Bandwidth - BWA term that defines the signals that occupy a portion of a frequency spectrum, particularly a radio system or their data transmission rate. Analysis or measurement of the signals or signal waveforms of such a system will show that most (or substantially all) of the power contained in that signal can be found in a designated portion of the frequency spectrum. The difference between the highest and lowest frequency describing that portion of the spectrum is the bandwidth of the signal. Frequency (radio spectrum) bandwidth is measured in units of hertz or cycles per second and data transmission bandwidth is measured in bits per second.
