Distributed Feedback Laser - DFB Distributed Feedback Laser - DFB
A distributed feedback LASER (DFB) is a very stable narrow bandwidth semiconductor (diode) laser. The narrow bandwidth is achieved in the DFB by locating a diffraction grating near the PN junction of the laser diode. The diffraction grating causes only a single optical wavelength to be supplied back to the Laser cavity. Because of its stable wavelength and narrow optical bandwidth, DFB Lasers are commonly used in narrow wavelength DWDM optical communication systems.
